Case Studies

Douglas County Water Resources Authority

Retained by DCWRA to organize, manage and develop a fully collaborative and integrated water conservationcampaign on behalf of its members. The educational campaign reaches out to over 200,000+ households representing over 325,000 people living in Douglas County and South Arapahoe County for the 2009 high-watering season with a 6 month campaign which began March 1st of 2009. The campaign's objective is to raise public awareness of Water Conservation by involving local and national businesses. Monitor and maintain their website www.dcwater.org. In addition to working with other businesses, such as CH2MHill, Lowe's Stores, the Wildlife Experience, and local Douglas County businesses, we are getting press for the DCWRA and building communication channels with State/Federal elected officials.

Designed, wrote copy, and currently monitor the Douglas County Stormwater Authority website: www.dcwater.org which include monthly updates of calendar and education. 

 

Roxborough Park Water & Sanitation District

Following Colorado's drought in 2002, residents were enraged over water issues. Hughes & Stuart developed a full-service community outreach program to educate and motivate residents to learn the benefits of water conservation. The new brand messaging is: “Discover the Beauty of WE, a Water Efficient Community.” Along with educational workshops, residents have taken heed of the message by transforming their personal water management efficiency (literally reducing water consumption by millions of gallons!)

We produce and maintain their website content as well as provide strategic community outreach and press publicity.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company

We designed a full water awareness campaign with sponsor Lockheed Martin to include:
An original 8-minute educational DVD, YouTube video youth contest (grades K-12) and toilet test detection leak project with middle schools. (407 leaky toilets were discovered out of 2,000 tested!)

Lockheed Martin provided the YouTube “Out of This World” water conservation contest prize: a trip to watch a NASA space shuttle launch in Florida and VIP tour of the Kennedy Space Center. 

We also wrote & produced 4 TV public service announcements which aired on the Rocky Mountain Fox Sports Network.


 

 

Todd Creek Village

A unique, new residential community of upscale homes on large lots built with a dual water-pipe system.

Public outreach publicity gave consumers needed information and inspiration on the long-term environmental and financial benefits of a dual-water pipe system in a semi-arid , water-strapped community.

We wrote editorial news stories which were distributed to homeowners, real estate agents, local businesses and newspapers. We also wrote and managed the newsletter to homeowners and maintain the District’s website.
